Some may say that the director is the most important job of film production. The director has to interpret the screenplay and make it into a film. This includes many different responsibilities, such as planning locations with the location manager, planning shots, pacing, acting styles and everything/anything else that has to do with the movie. The director also has to oversee the cinematography and technical aspects, coach actors, and direct staff on set to ensure everything is how it needs to be, such as making sure various deadlines are met.
The picture above is one of Hollywood's best known Directors, Steven Spielberg. Saving Private Ryan, Schlindler's List, Jaws, E.T, and the Indiana Jones series are just a few well-known movies he's directed. Click the picture to be brought to read more about him!
Cinematographer
The cinematographer (cinema photographer), a.k.a the camera operator, makes how the director visualizes a scene, happen. They use the motion picture camera to create the scene exactly how the director wants it. They photograph with the camera. The cinematographer always works with the lighting director and crew to make sure the scene before it is shot is acceptable. Examples may be, how the lighting shines off the actor(s), the scenery, and if it needs a special lens/filter. If the film has a large budget, more than one cinematographers are hired, for different parts of the set. The cinematographer should have the skills suited for this job, such as, able to work with everyone, and being exceptionally experienced in motion picture cameras.
Actor
The actor (or actress, for females) acts in the film and works in production. The Greek word for "Actor" actually means "one who interprets" - an actor interprets a character. An actor can be cast to play a character after being chosen out of many who auditioned for the role, or they can be called by the film producer to be asked to play the role. An actor isn't just in films, they act in TV shows, live plays, and can be actors even in the sense of being professionally photographed or on a radio show. Actors must not only memorize the script, but must act like the character they are playing so well, that viewers actually get a sense that they are that character.
Above is one of Hollywood's well known Actor, Morgan Freeman. He was cast in some good movies like Shawshank Redemption, Million Dollar Baby, and The Dark Knight Rises. He is well recognized for his "God-like" voice, and he even played the voice of God in Bruce Almighty. Click his picture to read more about him!
